Ariel Beaujot

As part of Bike Fest, Dr. Ariel Beaujot leads a family on a bike tour to the Northside confectionery, The Sweet Shop. A woman on the tour gets a flat tire, so she runs and walks alongside her children and Dr. Beaujot for the return to downtown La Crosse. This mishap greatly extends the length of the tour.

My name is Ariel Beaujot, and I was an ambassador at the now defunct Bike Fest. As part of Bike Fest, I remember leading a group of people that had grandparents and then parents and smaller children out to the Northside for the Sweet Shop ride. And so [laughs] on the way back, there was this little family. It was a mother and then I think two children, and her bike tire went flat. And we had nothing to do about that, and I was the ambassador, so I had to stick around and help her get back. And so what happened was that she had an uncle that was on the Northside even though they were from elsewhere. We went to the uncle’s yard and put the bike in the back of the yard that was on the Northside, and then she jogged beside her kids [laughs] and I rode behind them and then we would walk sometimes. But in that way, slowly, we made it back downtown, but it took us quite a while, so what should have been a half hour ride there and back with a stop to eat sweets was, in fact, this kind of funny[laughs] and arduous journey [laughs].
