Pozanc Robyn Miessler Marilyn

Marilyn Miessler and Robyn Pozanc remember when an out-of-town football team inadvertently wound up in their gay bar, Tattoos.  The couple describes why guests might not know Tattoos was a gay bar and what gave it away.  Marilyn and Robyn laughed with the team over drinks and even had surprise return visitors later that night.

Location: Tattoos Bar 1511 Rose St.

Marilyn:  You wouldn’t know that it was any other bar, other than the fact that behind the bar, we had this large mirror, and you wouldn’t recognize it right away. It was two women kissing and their hair-it was a very tasteful, beautiful etched mirror.

Robyn: There was a football team in town-

Marilyn: oh yeah

Robyn: and the whole football team came in, along with the coaches.

Marilyn: ‘Cause they were staying across the street at the

Robyn: motel.

Marilyn: At the motel, it was kind of like kitty-corner.

Robyn: So they came in, and they filled the whole bar up and around, and we were just laughing, and I was telling them jokes and, you know, downing, they were downing drinks and everything. And finally, there was a pile of newspapers alongside one of them. And um he started reading them and he’s like, oh, and he elbowed. And it kind of went all the way around, you know, to the all of them. Then they started looking around, and the coach was like “ is it OK if we’re in here?” And I’m like, yeah, there’s no problem. I said, you know, I got along with everybody pretty much. You know, I had a pretty good bar attitude, and because we were just sitting there BSing and I said there’s no problem whatsoever, they stayed probably for about an hour and a half, and all of them got up as a team, and left and about a half an hour later in comes two of the football players and starts dancing together. [laughs] And they were-they were a couple.[laughs] I’m Robin Pozanc.

Marilyn: And I’m Marilyn Meisler.
